Security

After the attack on APS&C Peshawar a new dimension of Security threat emerged which necessitated review of existing security arrangements. A detailed appreciation of the situation was carried out where in instructions received from Government of Punjab and higher echelons of command were also taken into consideration and a new security plan was evolved in order to thwart the threat.

Threat Spectrum
Following aspects of threat were conveyed by the concerned authorities:-
a. Blast (vehicles / Persons) especially at opening / closing time outside the school or in parking areas.
b. Physical attack by terrorists on any of the institute.
c. Kidnapping/Hijacking of student’s school bus / van.
d. Implanting IEDs inside/ outside the perimeter.
e. Attachment of Magnetic Explosive Device with school bus / staff vehicles.

Security Plan
New Security plan have been approved by the Competent Authority. The salient aspects are :
a. Deployment of Armed Security Guards equipped with Semi Automatic Long range weapons at roof tops covering all sides of respective campuses by observation and fire.
b. Deployment of CCTV Cameras and establishment of con room in each school.
c. Increasing the obstacle value of perimeter wall by erecting Concertina Razor wire for all the seven campuses of DHAES.
d. Installation of Alarm System with multiple switches and dedicated UPS System in all the campuses.
e. Use of Bottom View Mirrors for screening all vehicles entering the premises.
f. Uses of Metal Detectors for screening visitors and their bags.
g. Increased strength of security guards at gate during opening/closing times duly augmented by DHA traffic wardens, DHA security vehicles and policemen.
h. Deployment of “Hang around Security” by utilizing all available staff in and around the area for discrete observation of any unusual activity.
