Job Description
Daily Activities
A Teacher is responsible to Principal for performing the following duties:
- Report to all classes punctually as scheduled in the time table.
- Maintain the requisite standard of teaching in the light of guidance given by the Principal.
- Keep himself / herself well versed with knowledge of his / her subject and methodology of teaching.
- Proceed with the syllabus in accordance with the prescribed weekly and term breakdown.
- Set home work in accordance with home work schedule issued by the Principal.
- Check the home work meticulously and follow up with proper remedial measures.
- To maintain the students attendance register.
- Mark explicitly and neatly a student to be as present /absent or on leave. No blank space to be left in between.
- To be closed on last date of each month. A student absent /on leave for more than three days in a month is to be marked as irregular.
- Check the uniform of the students daily.
- Ensure that all the students leave / enter their respective classes in a proper line before / after recess, games period and at departure time and no child is left in the class after school hours.
- Encourage the students to take part in extra-curricular activities.
- Motivate / assist the students in their endeavours for better academic results.
- Report of any matter of concern to the Senior Mistress / Principal.
- Report to school 5 minutes before actual time in the morning.
Activities Performed at Irregular/ Periodic Intervals
- Set class tests, monthly tests, spot tests and question papers for terminal and annual examinations in the light of the requirements of course Contents and as spelled out by the Principal.
- Mark and evaluate the answer scripts thoroughly and carefully.
- Submit results and prepare result statements within the stipulated time period.
- Discuss educational problems of students with their parents when called upon to do so by the Principal. Not to enter into direct communication with the parents.
- Maintain charts in and around the class.
- Maintain Teacher’s planner, which will be handed over to the Principal on every Thursday, with the weekly plan of the next week.
- The closed register for each month to be submitted for Principal’s signature in the first week of the subsequent month.
- Consult Senior Mistress whenever necessary.
- Perform the duties of the duty / substitute teacher whenever detailed to do so.
- Make / supervise arrangements for conduct of practical/activities where applicable.
- Prepare lesson plans, maintain records of his / her work, and record of homework / assignment given to the students, in line with the scheme of studies.
- Encourage the students to take part in extra-curricular activities.
- Apprise them with progress / problems as regard the subject.
- Carry out any other duty assigned by the Principal.
- Perform MOD/Invigilation duties as and when required.
